"GLOWING for TA-TAHS" - Biomechanics In Motion
Saturday, June 15, 2013

Stephanie Danciu - Sponsored By The RMPI

Biomechanics "In Motion" - Saving Lives - Supporting Soles...

A personal message from RMPI's Visionary Founder...

Please consider supporting those in your community as well as sponsoring  someone nationally in our "breast cancer awareness, prevention and financial hope campaign".  As the Visionary Founder of the RMPI, the genetic aspects of cancer has always caused me concern. My great grandfather had eye and nose cancer and my grandmother "Pearl" had a lifelong, intimate relationship with this disease. She survived cancer 1) uterine cancer in her 20's; full hysterectomy, 2) breast cancer in her 30's double mastectomies, 3) nose cancer in her 40's; disfiguring her face,  4) skin cancer throughout her adult life; scarring on multiple locations on her face, arms and body; reducing the enjoyment of many of lifes offerings - i.e. - golf, pools, gardening (wearing hats and clothing to shield her skin from the sun). She spent her entire 92 years on this earth -  "Surviving Cancer" and in her final ten years she persevered as a woman of deep Christian faith, entrusting God with lymph node cancer.

I was named after my Grandmother - "Pamela Pearl Gross-Haig". On each Inaugration Day of our courses - I share my story of the dreams, aspiration, conception and reality of the RMPI - as the first not-for-profit pedorthic biomechanics school in the USA. I explain that there are many obstacles that each of us will face in our own lifetimes both professionally as well as personally through the transitions of life as we attain to reach our destiny. I remind those who attend our courses that perseverence is our strength as allied health care practitioners and it is what sustains many of us daily; hope too... please give hope to those who have yet to be diagnosed, those afraid of being diagnosed, to those who have been diagnosed and to those who hope for perseverance and more time...

Our mission is to do our part in keeping them biomechanically "in motion" during this transition; supporting lives, supporting soles (souls) the vision and mission of the founders, adjunct faculty and volunteers of the RMPI - networking to make a difference -  http://www.gofundme.com/GLOWINGforTA-TAS

Please visit the RMPI Outreach Tab on the Main Page of our website to learn more about the Outreach Programs of the RMPI. The RMPI has sponsored many events, some related to biomechanics specifically and some anonymously as we aspire to keep people moving - in locomotion; toward their dreams academically, personally and professionally.

Dr. Morden - Lead Biomechanical Advisor and RMPI Board Of Director - Passes Away
Saturday, January 26, 2013

Pam Haig, Founder's Statement:

I am saddened to loose my long term mentor and personal friend, Dr. Morden. Still to this day, I envision him sitting on his lecturing pedestal to which he deserves with honor, pride and recognition for his intense contribution to advancing the sciences. Students from around the world attended his lectures on anatomy, biomechanics, compensation, pathologies and surgical procedures. He passed away this past weekend as I packaged up his favorite snack ---Twizzlers Candy (and of course a book for him to read written by Neurosurgeon, Eben Alexander). He had generously shared his Twizzler's with me with me on many occasions as I served as not only as his student, but his secretary/assistant, editor, graphics artist and Powerpoint organizer during the late hours we shared expanding the curriculum in developing the RMPI school.

Historically, he began personally tutoring me after my employer (at that time), Dr. Richard Lundeen tossed the book titled Compendium of Podiatric Biomechanics to me and told me to "read this and then go talk to Theo. When you can talk to Theo, then come talk to me". Dr. Lundeen recognized Dr. Morden's strengths, having attended podiatric medical school together. So in my early twenties, I began interning with Theo in his office in my quest for knowledge to learn a level of competency to commuicate with both of them. Dr Morden was the perfect physician to teach me this complex topic and Dr. Lundeen served me well by recommending him.  Not only did Dr. Morden have a photographic memory, aced anatomy in medical school, understood advanced theory in biomechanics and compensation; he loved to teach it as much as I hungered for the knowledge. He was considered  a "walking encyclopedia" by many who knew him. Dr. Morden and I later went into practice together, subleasing space in an office that served as the visionary location for the RMPI school; he the podiatrist, me the pedorthist servicing orthopedic, podiatric and multidisciplinary patient referrals.  It was through this relationship that Dr. Robert Palmer, a leading Indianapolis orthopedic surgeon gained respect for Dr. Morden's advanced knowledge in biomechanics and they became a dynamo-team on complex orthopedic and podiatric theories treating chronic and unresolved pathologies within our office. Dr. Morden and Dr. Palmer traveled nationally teaching these complex topics as The Robert M. Palmer, M.D., Institute Of Biomechanic went from being a concept to a reality.

Theo, my mentor, my friend; my "big brother" - stern, firm, molding me into the pedorthic educator that I represent today... I will forever miss you.  If I could hear you tell me "Listen Pam, listen - think - think; put your pen down, stop writing, listen" -  it would be music to my ears. And with this said -  you always kept me "on-my-toes" with your authority, confidence, wit and humor; captured in this recent photo.

A Message to Pedorthists on the State of the Pedorthic Profession from the PFA President Dane LaFontsee
Wednesday, May 13, 2009

I don't see a lot of new Pedorthists entering the profession, and it seems like without that, our profession will contract and eventually die.  It also does not seem that other organizations are doing anything to help advance pedorthics.  My question is what can PFA do, and is PFA doing, to help turn the tide on this crisis hitting our profession?
